Both Huawei 5G models and the Huawei 4G routers share the 192.168.8.1 page for Huawei routers, and the Huawei router login steps cover more models than rain shipped. rain’s product terms say its Premium tier includes the101 Pro with two Xtenders, with a maximum of four Xtenders. No rain source gives an Xtender a login of its own; it extends the main router’s network like any Wi-Fi extender.

These steps come from rain’s 2020 guides for the H112 and N5368X. rain recommends a laptop on a LAN cable when you have one.

Searches such as “192.168 l 8.1 rain login password” come from a letter l typed in place of the digit 1. That lands on a search page, not the router.

This rain router login works the same on a 4G router with a rain SIM; only the address from the table changes. rain invites you to swap admin for a password you will remember.

rain 101 router login

No public rain page gives a web address or admin password for the101 or the101 pro. rain’s help centre no longer opens, its archived articles stop in January 2022 and none covers the101, and rain’s the101 page treats the screen as the control point:

• Scan to connect: “Friends scan the code on the screen and they’re straight on your network”, so nobody needs to read the sticker.
• Built-in speed test: tap the screen to run one. rain’s own words are “No apps, no logins.”
• Tap for support: request a call back from rain straight from the screen.

So the Wi-Fi key is on the sticker (rain’s page talks of “reading passwords off a sticker”) or behind the screen code. Anything deeper goes through rain on 081 610 1000.

Login portals that print 192.168.0.1 or admin for the101 cite no rain source, so they are not repeated here. Searches for a “rain 101 router developer password” have no public answer, and engineer accounts are not listed.

A MyBroadband thread titled “What is the password for the rain SSID?” shows the mix-up. The SSID is only the Wi-Fi name (see what an SSID is), and joining it takes the Wi-Fi key, not the admin login.

For routers rain never supplied, the default router password list has the brand defaults.

Change your rain WiFi password

Huawei CPE Pro H112

Huawei’s Wi-Fi name and password guide for its CPE units lists the HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro, the name rain used for the H112. It gives two ways in:

• Browser: sign in at 192.168.8.1, open Wi-Fi Settings > Wi-Fi Basic Settings, type the new Wi-Fi name and password, then Save.
• App: join the CPE’s Wi-Fi, open HUAWEI AI Life, tap the CPE, then Show more > Wi-Fi settings.

4G routers with a rain SIM

In rain’s APN article, once the rain profile is saved and selected, you set your own Wi-Fi name and password, click Finish and close the tab. If the router does not join the rain network by itself, restart it and connect with the new Wi-Fi password. rain gives no menu names for the Wi-Fi step, and they differ by brand.

rain 101 and N5368X WiFi password

No source gives a Wi-Fi menu for the N5368X; rain’s guide names only its Home, Internet and Update tabs. On the101, a key change goes through tap for support if your unit shows no menu. Generic steps for other routers are in how to change a Wi-Fi password.

Is the rain router network locked?

rain’s product terms define a Device as the101, the101 Pro, an Xtender or the loop, and say each one “remains rain’s property at all times”. The same clause says rain Devices are “customised and locked to the rain network and will not work on other operators’ networks.” rain’s own product summary adds that home Wi-Fi works only with the rain-supplied router, with no bring-your-own-router plans.

rain’s 2019 help article said the same of its CPE routers: locked to rain’s 5G network, and returned if you cancel. A rain SIM, rain said, works in any 4G router unless that router is locked to another provider.

MyBroadband owners also report that “Rain can reset your 5G router to default when ever they want to”. If your password stops working, try the default login before resetting by hand.

To reach rain, call 081 610 1000, email askrain at rain.co.za or use the rain app. On the101, tap for support requests a call back; the loop’s loopzone changes in the loop app.

rain router problems and fixes

The most common rain router problem has its own rain article, the no-internet APN fix: phones set the APN by themselves, but a router may need the APN rain with every other field left blank.

Connected to the Wi-Fi but no internet

Sign in, add a new profile named rain with the APN rain, save it and make sure it is selected. rain's own warning: even though a profile name already shows, you must still add a new one. rain's article gives Settings > Dial Up > Profile Management after its Huawei, D-Link, Telkom, ZTE and TP-Link list. On a Vodafone device it is Mobile Broadband Settings > Connection, Account Type Custom, APN rain. Other brands name the menu differently.

Forgot the admin password

rain's 5G guides give one route: a factory reset with the RTS button (see the box below). The login then returns to admin and admin, and you create a new password again.

The landing page shows N5368, not N5368X

Contact rain with the model number. rain's 2020 guide says it exchanges plain N5368 units for the newer model.

Weak or no 5G signal

On the N5368X, set Internet > Network > Network Mode to AUTO, then check that Home > Network and Internet Info > Detail shows network type SA. On the H112, switch on Auto select network under Network Settings, then set Mobile network searching > Network mode to Auto or NSA + SA and save. rain wants signal intensity (RSRP on the H112) as close as possible to -65 to -75 and a positive signal quality (SINR). rain's placement advice: upright, near a window, away from cupboards and thick walls.

Router software out of date

On the N5368X, open Update at the top left, then Check for update. On the H112, open Advanced > System to see the version, then Updates > Check for Updates. rain's 2020 targets were 10.0.5.11(H351SP2C1522) on the H112-370 and 10.0.5.1(H351SP2C1522) on the H112-372.

192.168.8.1 does not load

Check that you joined the router's own Wi-Fi and that mobile data is off. A 4G router from D-Link, Telkom, ZTE or TP-Link uses another address (see the table). the101 has no published address at all.

rain login opens my account, not the router

The rain login on rain's website and app is your account. The router login lives on the router's own address and takes the admin password, not your rain account password.
