Router Login
Use this on your router's Wi-Fi with mobile data off. If nothing loads, your router uses a different address: find your router's address. The page that opens is your router's own; Routers Network never sees what you type there.
For a router login, start with the label under or behind the box, which usually prints the address and the sign-in details. Enter the address in the box above while your phone is on the router's Wi-Fi and mobile data is switched off. No label? The tabs below show where Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac list the address.
Find your router's address
- Samsung Galaxy: Settings > Connections > tap your Wi-Fi name > gear icon > Manage router. A browser opens, and the address in its bar is the router's address.
- Google Pixel: Settings > Network & internet > tap your Wi-Fi name > gear icon > Advanced, then scroll to Network details.
- Other or older Android: Settings > Wi-Fi > your network > Modify network > Advanced options, set IP settings to Static and read Gateway. Then press Cancel, so nothing is saved.
The number shown is your router's login address. Names can differ slightly on your phone.
- Open Settings and tap Wi-Fi.
- Tap the Info button (the i) next to your network.
- Read the Router line.

- Press the Windows key, type
cmdand press Enter. - Type
ipconfigand press Enter. - Under Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi (or Ethernet adapter on a cable), find Default Gateway.
- No command line? Open Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center, click your connection, then Details, and read IPv4 Default Gateway.

A router login is the settings page built into your router, fibre ONT or MiFi. You reach it by typing the box’s address while you are on its Wi-Fi. It asks for an admin username and password, which are not the same as your Wi-Fi password. Inside you can rename the Wi-Fi, set a new key and change how the box connects.
Open the router admin page from a phone
The box above opens the address for you. These four habits decide whether a router admin login page appears at all.
- Join the router’s main Wi-Fi, not a guest network or a neighbour’s hotspot. The settings page answers only on the box’s own network.
- Switch mobile data off. With data on, a phone can leave weak Wi-Fi and send the address to the internet, where no router answers.
- Type the address in the bar at the very top of the browser. TP-Link’s login FAQ warns that a search engine will not take you to the login page. Start with plain
http://. - Sign in with the lines the label marks Username, Password or Admin password. The line marked Wi-Fi Key or WLAN Key is for joining the network.
Router login typos the address box corrects
A router reads only numbers and dots. Many router searches carry a letter instead, because the letter l looks like a 1 and the letter o looks like a 0. The box cleans the address before it opens anything.
| You type | The box opens | What it changed |
|---|---|---|
192.168 l 1 | 192.168.1.1 | spaces turned into dots, the l read as a one |
192.168.l.l | 192.168.1.1 | two letters l read as ones |
192.168.o.1 | 192.168.0.1 | the letter o read as zero |
192 168 0 1 | 192.168.0.1 | spaces turned into dots |
192.168 l 8.1 | 192.168.8.1 | the extra l dropped |
192.168 l00 1 | 192.168.100.1 | l00 read as 100 |
10.0.0.0.1 | 10.0.0.1 | one zero too many removed |
https://192.168.1.1:8080/login | 192.168.1.1 | prefix, port and path removed |
Some answers are not a router at all. An address that starts with 169.254 means your phone never got an address from the router; the fix is on the page about a Wi-Fi with no valid IP configuration. An address ending in .0 or .255 is a network or broadcast address, not a box. Type only three numbers, such as 192.168.1, and the box offers the known addresses that begin with them. When a slip could mean more than one address, it shows the choices and you pick.
Which kind of box do you have
The shape of the box and the cables in it narrow down the address before you type anything.
| What you see | Kind of box | Address to try first |
|---|---|---|
| The fibre cable from the wall plugs into it | fibre ONT | 192.168.100.1 on Huawei units, or the nameplate |
| A slot for a SIM card and no phone line | 4G or 5G home router | 192.168.8.1 on Huawei and Safaricom units, 192.168.0.1 on MTN Nigeria and Afrihost’s ZTE |
| Pocket size, with a battery | MiFi | 192.168.8.1 on Huawei, 192.168.0.1 on MTN Nigeria |
| A round TV-style cable screws into it | cable modem or gateway | 192.168.100.1 on Netgear modems, 10.0.0.1 on Xfinity and Rogers |
| Only a network cable from another box | Wi-Fi router | tplinkwifi.net or 192.168.0.1 on TP-Link, 192.168.3.1 on Huawei |
Most common router login addresses
The number depends on the kind of box, so a fibre ONT (the box the fibre cable plugs into) and a 4G router from one brand can differ. For a Wi-Fi router login, a modem login or an ONT login, start here.
| Address | Kind of box | Examples named by vendors or ISPs | Steps |
|---|---|---|---|
| 192.168.1.1 | DSL and fibre routers, ISP home hubs | Airtel India routers, IndiHome ZTE modems, Vodacom’s Alcatel Linkhub HH72v | 192.168.1.1 sign-in steps |
| 192.168.0.1 | retail routers, MiFi, 5G routers | TP-Link Archer, MTN Nigeria router and MiFi, Afrihost’s ZTE MC801A | Logging in at 192.168.0.1 |
| 192.168.8.1 | 4G and 5G routers, pocket MiFi | Safaricom 4G/5G router, Huawei B315, B535, B612 and B618 | Huawei 4G and Safaricom LTE logins |
| 192.168.100.1 | fibre ONTs, cable modems | Huawei fibre ONTs such as the HG8145X6N, Netgear cable modems | Fibre ONT sign-in at 192.168.100.1 |
| 192.168.3.1 | Huawei Wi-Fi and fibre routers | Huawei fibre routers sold through Afrihost | Huawei router sign-in at 192.168.3.1 |
| 192.168.29.1 | JioFiber home gateway | Jio Home Gateway, as users report | JioFiber gateway access |
| 192.168.1.254 | ISP hubs | Billion routers on Webafrica, BT Smart Hubs | Hub logins on 192.168.1.254 |
| 10.0.0.1 | cable gateways | Xfinity and Rogers gateways | Xfinity and Rogers gateway login |
Some brands answer to a name. TP-Link’s domain login help gives tplinkwifi.net for Archer routers, tplinkmodem.net for its DSL, 4G and 5G modem routers and tplinkmifi.net for its pocket Wi-Fi. Netgear’s login page help gives routerlogin.net. A name only works on that brand’s own network. For more numbers, the default router IP address list goes model by model, and the IP address index groups every address page.
Router login by ISP and country
A box from your provider runs the provider’s firmware, so its address and first password can differ from the same brand bought in a shop. Each line comes from the provider’s own page or a help desk that sells the service; the one exception, the JioFiber password, is marked as a user report.
Kenya
Safaricom’s Fixed LTE terms cover the 4G router login: join the 4G/5G router’s Wi-Fi, type 192.168.8.1, then enter User admin and password admin. The Wi-Fi key is printed on the back. For help, Safaricom gives Line 400/222. Safaricom Home Fibre works differently: its Home Fibre page gives you a Wi-Fi name and password and changes them in My Safaricom App > Home Internet > Home Fibre > Manage account. It lists no browser address for the fibre box.
Nigeria
MTN Nigeria’s broadband router guide says to visit 192.168.0.1 and sign in with admin as the password. After a 10 second pin reset, the password written on the router applies. The MiFi (a pocket Wi-Fi router) login is the same: MTN’s MiFi page says to open 192.168.0.1 while joined to the MiFi and use admin. Note that MTN calls the Wi-Fi key the “router password”.
South Africa
Vodacom’s Linkhub HH72v page gives http://192.168.1.1 and the password admin, with no username. Webafrica’s Huawei LTE insert lists admin and admin at 192.168.8.1 for the B315, B618 and B525. For a 5G router login on Afrihost Pure 5G, the ZTE MC801A opens at 192.168.0.1 with the password on the sticker under it. Webafrica’s Billion routers use 192.168.1.254 with admin for both fields.
India
Airtel’s router settings article gives 192.168.1.1, username admin and password password, and keeps the login password under Maintenance > Password. Jio’s Wi-Fi help page gives no web password for the JioFiber gateway. Users report 192.168.29.1 with admin and Jiocentrum, and say installers sometimes change it. Jio’s own route is the app: its Wi-Fi password help uses MyJio, Fiber Account > My Device > Wi-Fi Settings.
Indonesia
Telkomsel, which runs IndiHome support, says in its forgot-password article that ZTE modems open at 192.168.1.1. If nobody has signed in yet, type admin or user in both the username and password boxes. The defaults are also on the back of the modem. If your box shows a second account meant for the provider, leave it alone; it is not for customers.
Tanzania and other providers
No Tanzanian provider guide is listed here yet, so start from the label. A fiber router login on an ISP box may not match the brand’s shop default: Huawei says its carrier-customized routers can ship with a different factory login password.
Router login by brand
Pick the maker printed on the box for model tables, app notes and reset steps. Each brand page shows how to log in to that maker’s routers, address by address.
- TP-Link tplinkwifi.net, and why new models have no default
- TP-Link Deco Deco mesh units have their own page
- Huawei 4G CPE, MiFi and fibre ONTs on three addresses
- ZTE IndiHome modems, LTE and 5G routers
- Netgear routerlogin.net and the Nighthawk app
- Tenda Home routers with the login on the rear label
- Nokia Fibre ONTs with the address on the label
- D-Link dlinkrouter.local, and admin with a blank password on many models
Other makers are on the router brands index.
Which password the login page asks for
A router has two passwords. Huawei states the split clearly: the login password opens the setting page, and the Wi-Fi password joins the network. ISP wording blurs it. MTN Nigeria tells customers to “click on WLAN Key to change the router password”, which is the Wi-Fi key. Webafrica’s Huawei insert adds a tick box called “Same as Wifi password”; if it was ticked at setup, the admin password is now your Wi-Fi key, and if not, it stays admin.
Many boxes also retire the sticker password at the first sign-in. Webafrica’s B612 guide says you must update the router password before going further, Huawei’s ONT steps tell you to change the initial password, and newer TP-Link routers make you create one. After that, only the new password works until the box is reset.
So when the page rejects one password, try the other line on the label. The default router passwords page lists the first logins by brand, and the steps to change the Wi-Fi password start once you are in.
Router login apps from brands and ISPs
Some boxes are easier to manage from an app than from a browser, and a few ISPs document only the app.
| App | For | What it changes | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| TP-Link Tether | TP-Link routers on its supported list | internet connection, Wi-Fi name and password, access rules | does not work over a guest network |
| Huawei AI Life | Huawei 4G and 5G CPE (home routers that take a SIM) | the same login password as the web page, Wi-Fi settings | sign in with the HUAWEI ID tied to the router |
| MyJio | JioFiber gateway | Wi-Fi name and password under My Device | needs your JioFiber number |
| JioHome | JioAirFiber | Wi-Fi name and password under Network | signs in by OTP to your registered number |
| My Safaricom App | Safaricom Home Fibre | Wi-Fi name and password under Manage account | no web address given |
| Nighthawk | Netgear routers | router settings, as Netgear’s login help suggests | Netgear routers only |
Jio warns that a new Wi-Fi name or password set in MyJio or JioHome knocks every device off for a moment. Rejoin each one with the new key, starting with the phone you are using.
Router login not working
Find the message you see, then open it for the fix. Wrong passwords can also lock you out: Cheetah’s copy of Huawei’s ONT sign-in steps says the page locks after three bad tries. The longer checklist is on the page for when you cannot access the router web interface.
"This site can't be reached" or "took too long to respond"
The phone is on mobile data or another Wi-Fi, or the box uses a different address. Turn data off, rejoin the router's Wi-Fi and read the address from the label or the tabs above.
Search results appear instead of a sign-in box
The address went into a search box, or it holds a letter in place of a number. Type it in the bar at the top, or paste it into the box above to clean it.
"refused to connect" on a name like routerlogin.net
One Netgear user who saw this got in by typing the numbers instead. Names work only on that brand's own Wi-Fi.
"Your connection is not private"
TP-Link says this warning is expected because its login page uses a self-signed certificate. Tap Advanced and proceed, or type the address with plain http://.
tplinkwifi.net or another name never loads
Secure DNS in the browser can skip the router. In Chrome, open chrome://settings/security and turn off Use Secure DNS, or type the number instead.
The app cannot find the router
Move the phone from the guest Wi-Fi to the main network; Tether, for one, refuses to work over guest Wi-Fi. See how to set up guest Wi-Fi so visitors stay off the main one.
The page rejects the password
Try the admin line on the label, not the Wi-Fi key. If someone changed it, the router password recovery steps come before any reset.
Locked out after wrong tries
Wait before trying again. On Huawei fibre ONTs the lock lasts one minute, and the page also signs you out after five idle minutes. Nokia ONTs lock for a set time too.
A Huawei router stopped opening at 192.168.3.1
Huawei says HarmonyOS Connect can leave the router in bridge mode behind your fibre modem, so its own page no longer opens. Its fix: remove any cable from the router's WAN port to the modem's LAN port, turn HarmonyOS Connect off, then restore factory settings.
Still stuck after all of these? A factory reset returns the sticker password, but it also clears settings your provider entered. If your line needs a PPPoE username and password, the internet sign-in your provider gave you, get them from the provider before you press the button.
Can you log in to your router remotely
Some routers allow it. On TP-Link models it is off by default. TP-Link’s remote management steps switch it on under Advanced > System Tools > Administration (System on some models), after which you open http:// plus the router’s WAN address and a port from 1024 to 65535, or 80. Remote users cannot change Internet settings, IPv6, or Backup and Restore. TP-Link warns that this exposes the router to the internet, so set a strong password first, or use the Tether app with a TP-Link ID instead.
Conclusion
The label gives the fastest answer, and the box above opens what you type and fixes letters typed for numbers. If your provider is listed, its line on this page names the address and first password from its own help. When the label is unreadable, the steps to find your router’s IP address work on any phone or laptop.
Frequently asked questions
What is my router login address?
It is the number on the router's label, for example 192.168.8.1 on a Safaricom 4G router or 192.168.0.1 on an MTN Nigeria MiFi. Your phone shows the same number in its Wi-Fi details, on the line called Router or Gateway.
Can I log in to my router from my phone?
Yes. Join the router's Wi-Fi, switch mobile data off and type the address in the browser. Many boxes also have an app, such as TP-Link Tether, Huawei AI Life or MyJio for JioFiber.
Why can't I log into my router?
Most often the phone is on mobile data or another Wi-Fi, the address is wrong, or the password you typed is the Wi-Fi key and not the admin password. Huawei fibre ONTs also lock the page for a minute after three wrong tries.
Can I change my router login password?
Yes, once you are signed in. Airtel puts it under Maintenance > Password, and Huawei Wi-Fi routers under More Functions > System Settings > Change Login Password. Write the new one down so you never need a reset to get back in.
Is routerlogin.net safe?
It is the name Netgear gives for the settings page of its own routers. It only opens while you are on a Netgear router's network, and what loads is your router's own page, not a website.
