Login Admin Portal

Default login: On the sticker under the box. Cheetah lists root / admin for Huawei HG8245H; NETGEAR cable modems use admin / password.

Works only while your phone or laptop is on this router's Wi-Fi or cable. On a phone, turn mobile data off first. If nothing opens, your router uses another address. The page that opens is your router's own; Routers Network never sees what you type there.

Key points

  • 192.168.100.1 opens the settings page of many Huawei fibre ONTs and of NETGEAR cable modems. Cheetah lists Huawei EG models at 192.168.18.1 or 192.168.100.1.
  • Cheetah's Huawei ONT login article says the web address, user name and password are printed on the nameplate, so the sticker comes before any published list.
  • Three wrong logins in a row lock a Huawei ONT page for one minute, and five minutes without any action send you back to the login screen.
  • The ISP account on a Huawei ONT, often called telecomadmin, belongs to the ISP; Wi-Fi changes never need it.
  • NETGEAR cable modems need no login for normal use, and NETGEAR says their address is always 192.168.100.1 and cannot be changed.

  10. 192.168.100.1 login not working or refused

The 192.168.100.1 login is used by two kinds of box: Huawei fibre ONTs (the unit your fibre line plugs into, which often gives your Wi-Fi too) and NETGEAR cable modems. On a phone, join that box’s Wi-Fi, switch mobile data off and enter http://192.168.100.1 in the address bar, not the search box. The login is on the box’s sticker; Cheetah lists root / admin for the Huawei HG8245H.

If your router uses 192.168.100.1, this opens its login page. If nothing loads, your router uses a different address; see how to find the address your router uses.

Cheetah gives root and admin for its Huawei HG8245H and HG8247H at 192.168.100.1. NETGEAR gives admin and password for most CM cable modems and a label password on the CM2000. The Source column names each publisher.

Cheetah’s Huawei ONT login article says the web address, the user name and the password are all printed on the product nameplate. So any list, this one included, is a fallback for when the sticker is missing or worn.

We found no page from Safaricom, Airtel, Jio, MTN, Openserve, Telkomsel or Biznet that lists 192.168.100.1 or a login for it. Telkomsel’s own IndiHome help page only asks you to enter the admin address and the admin login that match your device, without naming either. On these networks, use the sticker under your ONT, or ask the ISP.

Not every Huawei fibre box uses this address either. Afrihost in South Africa sends its customers to 192.168.3.1 for its Huawei fibre Wi-Fi routers; that address has its own 192.168.3.1 sign-in page. For Huawei’s 4G and 5G units, which use other addresses again, start from the Huawei router page.

Huawei EG8145V5 login on 192.168.100.1

Cheetah gives the EG8145V5, EG8245H and EG8247H the address 192.168.18.1 or 192.168.100.1, in that order. Its EG8145V5 Wi-Fi article has you type 192.168.100.1 first and move on to 192.168.18.1 only if that one does not open. When the second address answers, the 192.168.18.1 login guide takes over.

Cheetah’s defaults article offers three passwords for these units. Its newer EG8145V5 article simply points owners to the sticker. The HG8145V5, a near-identical name, is not on Cheetah’s list at all, so take its login from the sticker too.

How to log in to 192.168.100.1 on a phone

These steps follow Cheetah’s Huawei ONT login article.

Huawei fibre ONT on a phone

  1. Join the Wi-Fi network that comes from the ONT itself.
  2. Turn mobile data off, so the phone does not try to reach the address over the mobile network.
  3. Type http://192.168.100.1 in the browser’s address bar and press Enter. If your nameplate shows a different address, type that one.
  4. Enter the user name and password printed on the nameplate, then tap Log In.

Log in on a laptop with a cable

Run a network cable from the laptop to a LAN port on the ONT. Cheetah’s article then has you put the computer in the same subnet as the ONT, which means an address that shares its first three numbers. Its example: with the ONT on 192.168.100.1, give the computer 192.168.100.100. You set this in the laptop’s network adapter settings under IPv4. Switch it back to automatic when you are done, or the laptop may stay offline.

Locked out or logged out of 192.168.100.1

Cheetah’s Huawei ONT login article says the 192.168.100.1 page locks for one minute after three wrong logins, and logs you out after five idle minutes.

Three wrong tries, and now every login fails

The page locks for one minute after three wrong user name and password entries in a row. Cheetah's EG8145V5 article states the same rule. Stop, wait a full minute, then type the sticker login once, slowly.

The page jumps back to the login screen while you edit

Five minutes with no action logs you out. Sign in again and have the new Wi-Fi name and key ready before you open the menu.

The admin password is not accepted

Use the exact login from your nameplate; published lists are only a guide. On EG models, try the other user name Cheetah lists, Epuser or root, but keep count so the lock does not start.

Reset the 192.168.100.1 admin password

Forgot a password you set yourself? Then the reset button is the last way back in, and the hold time and risk differ by box.

On a Huawei ONT, Cheetah says the reset worked when the light goes off and then comes back on. If the internet does not come back afterwards, Cheetah sends you to the ISP, so call them before you press the pin. NETGEAR warns that cutting the power during its reset can corrupt the firmware. The general steps sit in what a factory reset clears on a router.

User account vs telecomadmin on 192.168.100.1

The login on your sticker is the everyday user account, and on Cheetah’s EG8145V5 it is the one used to change the Wi-Fi name and key. Many Huawei ONTs also carry a second account, often called telecomadmin, that the ISP uses for its line settings. It is not yours to use: the ISP sets its password and often changes or locks it before the box reaches you, and Wi-Fi changes never need it.

Change the Wi-Fi password at 192.168.100.1

To change the Wi-Fi password at 192.168.100.1, open WLAN on a Mobily Huawei HG8245, or Advanced, then WLAN, on Cheetah’s EG8145V5.

ModelMenu pathFields to editSave stepSource
Huawei HG8245 (Mobily Fiber)WLANSSID Name, WPA PreSharedKey (at least 8 characters)Apply, then System Tool > Configuration File and the save configuration buttonMobily HG8245 steps

On the EG8145V5, Cheetah’s Wi-Fi steps use the Advanced menu and one Apply per band.

EG8145V5 on a phone

  1. Sign in with Epuser or root and the password from the sticker at the bottom of the unit.
  2. Tap Advanced, then WLAN, then 2.4G Basic Network.
  3. Edit SSID Name for the Wi-Fi name and WPA PreSharedKey for the password, then tap Apply.
  4. Open 5G Basic Network, make the same two edits, and tap Apply again.

Cheetah suggests one name and password for both bands. After Apply, your phone drops off the old network: join again with the new key. On the HG8245, sign back in and finish Mobily’s save configuration step as well.

Forgot the Wi-Fi key, with no phone still connected? You cannot join the ONT’s Wi-Fi to reach the page, so Cheetah’s answer for that case is a PC on a network cable, as in the laptop steps above. Its general Huawei articles call the menu Advanced Configuration > WLAN and 2.4G Basic Network Settings, so the words on your screen may differ a little from the EG8145V5 steps.

If your 192.168.100.1 page has no WLAN menu, you are on a modem. The Wi-Fi key is then changed on the router behind it, and the Wi-Fi password steps for ZTE, TP-Link and other brands cover that part.

192.168.100.1 cable modem login

NETGEAR says that once its cable modem is set up, you never need to sign in for normal use; the page only changes a limited set of settings. When you do need it, the user name is admin and the default password is password, and both are case-sensitive. The CM2000 breaks the pattern: it has no default password, and every unit carries its own on the label. Its reset article adds that the modem’s address is always 192.168.100.1 and cannot be changed.

NETGEAR’s CAX30, CAX30S and CAX80 combine a modem and a Wi-Fi router. In normal use they open at 192.168.0.1, covered on the 192.168.0.1 login page. Once you set Router Mode to No, for example after adding a mesh system, NETGEAR says to sign in at 192.168.100.1 instead.

NETGEAR’s steps start from a computer that is either cabled to the modem or joined to a Wi-Fi router cabled to it, with http://192.168.100.1 typed in the address bar. Other NETGEAR products are on the NETGEAR login page. ARRIS SURFboard modems also use this address; their logins are on the Arris router login page. For Motorola cable modems and others, use any login printed on the modem’s label.

With your own TP-Link Archer added after a Starlink kit, TP-Link notes the Starlink settings may stay out of reach until the Archer has a static route. Its values: network destination 192.168.100.0, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.100.1, interface WAN. The full steps are in TP-Link’s Archer and Starlink article, and the Starlink login page covers the kit itself.

Typing 192.168 l 100.1 by mistake

Common mistyped forms of 192.168.100.1:

  • 192.168 l 100.1, with a letter L where a dot belongs
  • 192.168.l00.1, with the letter L standing in for the digit 1
  • 192.168 o 100.1, with a letter o in the middle
  • 192 168 100 1, with spaces in place of the dots

A browser treats each one as a search, because the real address is digits only with three dots. The address checker on the router login page turns a mistyped address back into the correct one.

192.168.100.1 login not working or refused

Use this list when the page does not open at all; sign-in failures are in the lockout section.

You are on another router's Wi-Fi

Cheetah's Huawei article starts from the ONT's own Wi-Fi, and the page may not open through another router. Join the ONT's Wi-Fi and try again.

The ONT's Wi-Fi name has disappeared

On the EG8145V5 the WLAN light is off when Wi-Fi is disabled. Cheetah's cable guide says to press the WLAN button for more than 3 seconds and release it to switch Wi-Fi back on.

Your IndiHome box is not a Huawei

Indonesian news guides report that other IndiHome routers open at 192.168.1.1, with user typed as both the name and the password.

The browser says refused to connect

Switch between http:// and https://. Bloomberg Technoz gives the https form for IndiHome Huawei units.

Nothing above helps

Your ISP may have locked the web page on its ONT. Ask the ISP; do not look for a way around the lock.

What the PON and LOS lights mean

The two lights on a Huawei ONT tell you if the fibre link itself is up. This reading comes from Cheetah’s EG8145V5 light guide; other models may use other patterns.

For a box that answers on the other address, the 192.168.1.1 sign-in steps apply. If no router page loads on any address, the checklist for a router page that will not load covers the browser and network causes.

Conclusion

First match your box: a Huawei fibre ONT, a cable modem, or a Starlink kit behind your own router. For the 192.168.100.1 login, use that box’s sticker username and password, leave the ISP’s account alone, and read the lights before you reach for the reset pin. For boxes on other addresses, browse the router addresses grouped by device family.

Frequently asked questions

What is 192.168.100.1?

192.168.100.1 is a private address that many Huawei fibre ONTs and NETGEAR cable modems use for their own settings page. It only opens from inside your home network, and what you see depends on which box you have.

What is telecomadmin on 192.168.100.1?

The telecomadmin account belongs to the ISP on many Huawei fibre ONTs, separate from the user login on your sticker. The ISP sets its password and often changes or locks it, so sign in with the sticker login and ask your ISP for line changes.

What is the Safaricom 192.168.100.1 login?

We found no Safaricom page that gives an address or a login for its Home Fibre ONTs. Read the user name and password from the sticker under your ONT, and ask Safaricom if the sticker shows none.

How do I see my Wi-Fi password at 192.168.100.1?

Sign in, then open WLAN on an HG8245, or Advanced, WLAN and 2.4G Basic Network on an EG8145V5. The key sits in the WPA PreSharedKey box. If no phone is still on the Wi-Fi, sign in from a laptop on a network cable instead.

How do I reset the 192.168.100.1 admin password?

If you only mistyped it, wait one minute for the lock to clear and try the sticker login again. If you changed it and lost it, a Huawei ONT needs the reset pin held for more than 10 seconds. That can wipe the ISP setup, so talk to your ISP first.
