Default login: Older TP-Link: admin / admin. D-Link DIR: admin, blank. MTN: admin. ZTE MC801A, Tenda MF3: on the label

App: TP-Link Tether, tpMiFi, NETGEAR Nighthawk

Works only while your phone or laptop is on this router's Wi-Fi or cable. On a phone, turn mobile data off first. If nothing opens, your router uses another address. The page that opens is your router's own; Routers Network never sees what you type there.

Key points

  • Type http://192.168.0.1 with the digit zero in the browser's address bar while your phone is on the router's own Wi-Fi.
  • Older TP-Link routers accept admin as username and password; newer ones such as the Archer AX21 ask you to create a password on the first visit.
  • MTN Nigeria gives the password admin at 192.168.0.1 for its 4G Broadband Router and MiFi, and the Wi-Fi key is changed under WLAN Key.
  • The ZTE MC801A 5G router used for Afrihost Pure 5G asks only for the password printed on the sticker underneath.
  • Most D-Link DIR routers take admin with the password box left empty; Tenda F6 V4.0 and N301 V4.0 routers take the password admin after a reset.

  8. 192.168.0.1 vs other router addresses
  9. Why is 192.168.0.1 not working?

The 192.168.0.1 login page belongs to most TP-Link routers, TP-Link’s M7350 V5 MiFi, D-Link and Tenda routers, MTN Nigeria’s 4G router and MiFi, and Afrihost’s ZTE MC801A 5G box. Older TP-Link takes admin twice, D-Link DIR admin with a blank password, and MTN the password admin. If your router uses 192.168.0.1, this opens its login page. If nothing loads, your router uses a different address; see how to find it.

Who uses 192.168.0.1

Most TP-Link routers use 192.168.0.1, as do most D-Link DIR and Tenda routers, TP-Link’s M7350 V5 MiFi, MTN Nigeria’s 4G router and MiFi, and Afrihost’s ZTE MC801A. The last column links the maker’s or ISP’s own page for that line.

192.168.0.1 login on your phone

Open 192.168.0.1 from a phone

  1. Join the router’s own Wi-Fi. A MiFi or 5G box prints its network name and key on its label.
  2. Turn mobile data off, so the phone cannot send the request out through the SIM.
  3. Tap the browser’s address bar, not the search box. TP-Link warns that a search engine will never take you to the login page.
  4. Type http://192.168.0.1 using the digit zero, then tap Go.
  5. Sign in with the login from your row above, or with the one on the sticker.

A privacy warning at this point is expected: TP-Link and Mercusys both trace it to a self-signed certificate, one the router issued to itself.

A laptop on a network cable works too: Afrihost asks for the cable first, and MTN offers it as a second route. If the numbers fail but a brand name such as tplinkwifi.net loads, keep using the name from the “Also try” row.

MTN router and MiFi login at 192.168.0.1

MTN Nigeria gives this address on two help pages. Its Broadband Router how-to guide says to visit 192.168.0.1 and log in with admin as the password. In the Wi-Fi settings, the key is changed under WLAN Key. If you would rather use a laptop, MTN says to run a LAN cable from the router and open the same address.

To reset the router, MTN says to push the reset button with a pin for 10 seconds, or until the router restarts. Then sign in with admin or with the default password written on the router.

The MTN MiFi help adds one condition: 192.168.0.1 only opens while your phone is connected to the MiFi itself. The password is again admin, and the WLAN key sits in the Wi-Fi settings.

MTN’s page calls the Wi-Fi key the “router password”. The admin login only opens the settings; the WLAN key is what your phones type to join. The same MiFi page adds a use few guides mention: the 192.168.0.1 interface also shows the MiFi’s airtime and data balance.

MTN’s codes and app sit beside the web page, and none of them is a login:

MTN 5G broadband router

MTN’s site keeps a separate 5G Broadband Router section, but its own pages give no 5G login. Blog guides disagree on the address and name no model. Read the sticker on your unit and type what it shows. If it lists 192.168.8.1, use that address instead.

ZTE MC801A 5G login in South Africa

Afrihost’s Pure 5G service runs on an approved CAT6 5G router, and its MC801A APN guide covers the ZTE MC801A. Afrihost asks you to plug a LAN cable into a computer, or to join the router’s Wi-Fi when the computer has no LAN port. Type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. The router asks for nothing but a password, and that password is printed on the sticker at the bottom.

Add the Afrihost APN on the MC801A

  1. Tap Settings, then APN.
  2. Next to Mode, choose Manual.
  3. Next to Profile, tap Add New.
  4. Enter the profile name Afrihost Pure 5G and the APN ws.afrihost.fwa.
  5. Tap Apply.

Axxess’s help desk gives the same address and the same sticker password for this router. The first button is called Connection Settings there, the profile name is Axxess and the APN is ws.axxess.fwa. A new Wi-Fi name goes in the Network Name (SSID) field, SSID meaning the name phones see.

On a 5G box from any other provider, read its sticker before you type anything. Evetech, a South African retailer, writes that provider 5G units print the login on the label and that many of them use 192.168.8.1.

TP-Link’s router login FAQ, last updated in April 2026, sorts its routers by age. Older models accept admin as both username and password, and some show the two boxes already filled in. Newer ones, the Archer AX21 among them, greet you with a screen that asks you to create a password, so no factory password exists to search for. If you lose the one you chose, the Archer A7 and C7 guide says to click Forgot password on the login page. That works if you sign in with a TP-Link ID or turned on Password Recovery. Otherwise a factory reset is the way back. The Tether app can stand in for the browser on a phone.

For the M7350 pocket MiFi:

  • V5: TP-Link’s M7350 service FAQ says to open tplinkmifi.net or 192.168.0.1 and type admin, lower case, in both boxes. To reset it, hold the RESET hole for about 5 seconds until the screen reads Power Off.
  • V6.2: the page asks for the password admin, then makes you pick a new one.
  • Both: the tpMiFi app shares the web page’s password.

Some TP-Link routers leave 192.168.0.1 on their own when plugged into another box. The Archer C7 user guide states that when the modem in front already uses a 192.168.0.x address, the TP-Link “will automatically switch from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 to avoid IP conflict”. An MTN 4G router sits at 192.168.0.1, so it fits that case. In that setup the TP-Link answers at 192.168.1.1 and the ISP box keeps 192.168.0.1. To pick a fixed number yourself, TP-Link’s Archer AX20 guide puts the LAN address under Advanced > Network > LAN.

Tenda F6, N301 and MF3

Tenda’s F6 V4.0 and N301 V4.0 user guide opens the router at tendawifi.com or 192.168.0.1, and the label under the router prints the login IP as well. Fresh from the box, the Wi-Fi is called Tenda_XXXXXX, where the six characters are the end of the router’s MAC address. It has no password at all until quick setup asks you to pick one.

After a reset, the login password is admin. To set your own, open Administration > Login Password and type 5 to 32 characters. The router lends phones addresses from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.200, so 192.168.0.100 is the first address the router hands out, not the router.

One button does two jobs on these models:

The MF3 mesh kit works another way. Tenda’s MF3 login help asks for the Wireless Password printed on the rear label. Since the login changes by model, one “Tenda admin/admin” line cannot fit every unit.

D-Link’s DIR-878 login FAQ reaches the router at 192.168.0.1 or dlinkrouter.local. Type admin as the username and leave the password box empty. D-Link’s password help adds that some units take admin in that box instead.

NETGEAR home routers

NETGEAR’s router login help starts with routerlogin.net and says the IP is “commonly 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1”. The usual pair is admin and password, yet the label under the unit may carry a combination made for that one router. Older models used 1234, and newer ones make you replace the admin password during first setup. The Nighthawk app covers the phone side.

Change the Wi-Fi password at 192.168.0.1

Most people log in here to change the Wi-Fi key, and that key is a different password from the admin login. TP-Link’s own help keeps the two apart, writing of the “router login password (not the Wi-Fi password)”. Where each maker puts the Wi-Fi key:

192.168.0.1 vs other router addresses

Plenty of readers arrive here holding a router that lives at another number. Match yours below.

192.168.1.1 Airtel India routers and IndiHome ZTE modems
192.168.8.1 Huawei 4G and 5G routers; Evetech calls it the most common address on South African 5G units
192.168.29.1 JioFiber home gateways
192.168.100.1 Fibre ONTs; Evetech says some portable 5G units use it

Mercusys’s login guide also has you set an administrator password on first access, and notes that some models take admin in both boxes.

In Kenya, Tanzania and Indonesia, a TP-Link, Tenda or D-Link bought in a shop follows the rows at the top of this page. For a box your ISP supplied, read the address on its label and open the matching page from this table.

Why is 192.168.0.1 not working?

192.168.0.1 stops working when the phone is off the router’s network, the address is mistyped or has extra text after it, or a TP-Link has moved to 192.168.1.1.

A search page opens instead of the router

The bar holds 192.168.o.1 with a letter O, 192.168 l 0.1 with a letter L and a space, or 192 168 0 1 with spaces. Or you typed into the search box. None of these is an address, and TP-Link notes that a search engine cannot reach the router. Clear the bar and type four numbers split by three dots.

Chrome says "This site can't be reached"

The phone is not on the router's network, often because mobile data took over. The same cause gives "took too long to respond". The page answers only over the router's own Wi-Fi or cable, and an MTN MiFi only while you are joined to it.

"refused to connect" (ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED)

NETGEAR owners report it on routerlogin.net. NETGEAR's help says to type the router's IP in the address bar in place of the name. If the IP fails as well, go back to the name.

"HTTP error 404"

Extra text sits after the address, often an old saved page path. Type http://192.168.0.1 with nothing after it.

A TP-Link such as the Archer C7 stopped opening at 192.168.0.1 behind your ISP box

Some models move themselves to 192.168.1.1 when the box in front already uses 192.168.0.x. Try http://192.168.1.1 or tplinkwifi.net.

Nothing loads while you are on a guest network

A guest network may not reach the router's settings. On TP-Link models with the option, guests reach the local network only when "Allow guests to access my local network" is ticked. Join the main Wi-Fi instead.

The admin password is rejected

Someone changed it, or your model wants a password you create. Check the sticker first: MTN, the ZTE MC801A and the Tenda MF3 print theirs there. On a TP-Link with a TP-Link ID or Password Recovery set up, try the Forgot password link. A reset comes last: MTN says a pin for 10 seconds, Tenda F6 and N301 about 8 seconds, the M7350 V5 about 5 seconds.

Wi-Fi vanished after pressing the Tenda button

A 1 to 3 second press of WiFi/RST switches the Wi-Fi off. Press it again for 1 to 3 seconds to bring it back.

The gateway shows 169.254.x.x or nothing

The phone got no address from the router. Forget the network, join it again, and check that the gateway line now reads 192.168.0.1.

If none of these match, work through every fix for a router page that will not load.

Conclusion

The 192.168.0.1 login serves several device worlds, and each has its own username and password. Find your box in the table or read its sticker, then type the digit zero with http:// while mobile data is off. If your router lives somewhere else, the router login hub, which works out your address, is the place to start.

Frequently asked questions

What is the password for a 192.168.0.1 router?

No single password covers every box on this address. Older TP-Link units take admin twice, and most D-Link DIR models take admin with nothing in the password field. MTN's 4G router and MiFi take admin, and the ZTE MC801A and Tenda MF3 print theirs on the label. If anyone has changed it, no list will match.

Why can't I access 192.168.0.1?

Usually the phone is on mobile data or a different Wi-Fi, or the router simply sits at another number. Open your Wi-Fi details and read the Router or Gateway line; whatever it shows is the address to type.

Is 192.168.0.1 safe, and why does it say not secure?

192.168.0.1 is a valid private address that only answers inside your own network, so strangers on the internet cannot open your copy of it. Browsers mark it not secure because the page uses plain http or a certificate the router signed itself. Only skip that warning at home, never on public Wi-Fi.

What is the subnet for 192.168.0.1?

Tenda's F6 V4.0 and N301 V4.0 guide lists the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 for this address, with phones receiving numbers from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.200. Other brands may differ, so check your own router's LAN settings page.

What is the default gateway for 192.168.0.1?

The router is the gateway. A phone on a 192.168.0.1 router lists that number on its Router or Gateway line, and a laptop shows it as Default Gateway. A different number there means your router lives at that address, so open it instead.
