MTN Router Login in Nigeria
192.168.0.1
Default login: No username. Password admin, or the one written on the router (MTN Nigeria help)
App: myMTN NG
Works only while your phone or laptop is on this router's Wi-Fi or cable. On a phone, turn mobile data off first. If nothing opens, your router uses another address. The page that opens is your router's own; Routers Network never sees what you type there.
Key points
- MTN Nigeria's help pages give one login for its 4G Router, 5G Router, MiFi and FlyX: open 192.168.0.1 and type admin as the password.
- MTN calls the Wi-Fi key the router password. Change it under Wi-Fi settings, in the field named WLAN Key.
- FlyX also opens at mtn.broadband.ng. FibreX has no published login: MTN resets that device password by email or on 352.
- USSD codes and the myMTN NG app handle bundles and balances. They do not change your Wi-Fi name or key.

For an MTN router login in Nigeria, join the router’s Wi-Fi, open 192.168.0.1 and type admin in the password box. MTN’s help pages give no username. The same login covers the 4G Router, 5G Router, MiFi and FlyX. FibreX is the exception: MTN publishes no login for it and resets that password for you.
Which MTN router do you have?
MTN’s broadband page sells seven devices and names no maker for any of them. Your box may carry a maker’s logo, but the login below comes from MTN’s own help pages. Look at the router itself too: MTN says the default router password is written on it.
MTN 4G router login
The Standard or Premium home router has its own MTN line number, which MTN calls the router number. It opens on the 192.168.0.1 login page with the password admin. MTN’s 4G help also points to a WPS button on top of the router. Press it, and a phone or laptop nearby can join without typing the key.
MTN 5G router login
Same address and password as the 4G box. It ships with its own SIM, and MTN says you must register that SIM at an MTN registration point before it will connect. Where there is no 5G signal, the router drops to 4G and keeps working. It also has a LAN port for a cable. The “5G” in its name means the mobile network. It is not the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band your phone shows; 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi are two radio bands inside any router.
MTN MiFi login
MTN’s MiFi help repeats one condition: the page at 192.168.0.1 opens only while your phone is joined to the MiFi’s Wi-Fi. Once in, the same page also shows the device’s airtime and data balance. MTN’s help section has no page for the 5G MiFi, so read its label before you guess.
MTN FlyX router login
FlyX is two boxes. An MTN-certified installer places an outdoor unit outside your home where the signal is strongest, and it feeds an indoor unit that gives you Wi-Fi. The outdoor unit holds a built-in eSIM, so there is no SIM card to insert or swap. Its help page gives two ways in: 192.168.0.1 or the name mtn.broadband.ng, with the password admin.
MTN FibreX router
FibreX is MTN’s home fibre. Its help page gives no address and no login. To get the device password reset, MTN asks you to email mtnbroadband.ng@mtn.com or call 352. FibreX also runs on its own data plans, so router and MiFi bundles do not work on it. MTN’s broadband page gives FibreX customers a separate Manage FibreX Account portal.
| Device | How to tell it apart | Address | Login |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4G Router (Standard or Premium) | Home router with a router number, WPS button on top | 192.168.0.1 | Password admin |
| 5G Router | Ships with its own SIM, LAN port | 192.168.0.1 | Password admin |
| MiFi | Pocket hotspot, 3G and 4G | 192.168.0.1 while joined | Password admin |
| 5G MiFi | Pocket hotspot, 5G | Not published | Label |
| FlyX | Outdoor unit outside plus indoor unit | 192.168.0.1 or mtn.broadband.ng | Password admin |
| FibreX | Fibre line, free installation by MTN | Not published | Ask MTN on 352 |
MTN router login on your phone
- Join the router’s Wi-Fi.
- Turn mobile data off. If it stays on, your phone may try the internet instead of the router.
- Type
http://192.168.0.1in the browser’s address bar, not in the Google search box. On FlyX you can typemtn.broadband.nginstead. - MTN gives a password only, no username. Type
adminin lower case and sign in.
No phone handy? MTN’s router guide offers a second way: run a LAN cable from the router to a laptop and open the same address. MTN’s 5G help confirms that router takes a LAN cable; on a 4G box, check for a LAN port first.
MTN WiFi password change
MTN’s help pages talk about changing “the router password” and then send you to a field called WLAN Key. That field is the Wi-Fi password your phones type to join. The admin password that opened the page is a separate thing, and MTN gives no steps for changing it.
- After you sign in, open Wi-Fi settings.
- Edit the WLAN Key. On FlyX, the help just says to change the password in Wi-Fi settings.
- If you also want a new network name, that is the SSID. What an SSID is explains the term the menu uses.
- Save. Every phone and TV drops off and must join again with the new key.
Four different passwords get mixed up on MTN devices.
| Password | Where you type it | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Router admin password | The 192.168.0.1 page (or mtn.broadband.ng on FlyX) | admin, or the one written on the router after a reset |
| WLAN Key | Your phone’s Wi-Fi list | The key you set under Wi-Fi settings; MTN calls it “the router password” |
| FibreX device password | The FibreX router | Reset only by MTN, on 352 or by email |
| myMTN account login | myMTN web or the app | Your router number plus a one-time code sent to your other number or email |
If a laptop is still connected but nobody remembers the key, read a saved Wi-Fi password from it before you change anything.
If you also own a router from another provider, Wi-Fi password steps for other brands list their menus.
What MTN locks and when to call
Some parts of the setup belong to MTN, and no setting on 192.168.0.1 changes them.
- FibreX device password. Only MTN resets it, by email or on 352.
- FlyX installation. MTN does not recommend fitting the outdoor unit yourself, and FlyX is tied to the address where it was installed. Moving house means calling MTN first.
- SIM registration. The 5G router’s SIM must be registered at an MTN registration point, and the FlyX eSIM in line with NCC rules, before either connects.
- Faulty hardware. MTN gives a one-year warranty on the 4G and 5G devices. A faulty 4G router goes back to where you bought it, and MTN’s broadband page also links a faulty device portal.
For broadband help, MTN lists 352 from an MTN line, 08031021700 from other networks, the email MTNBroadband.NG@mtn.com, or any MTN store. Do not try to break into settings MTN has locked; ask them instead.
Is there an MTN router login app?
No. Neither an app nor a code replaces the MTN router login at 192.168.0.1. The codes manage the device’s number, bundles and balance. MTN’s broadband bundle guide lists them.
| Code or tool | What it does |
|---|---|
*312*500*1# | Links your router or MiFi number to your phone number |
*312*500*2# | Recharges airtime on the device number |
*312*500*3# | Buys a broadband bundle for the device |
*312*500*4# | Checks the device balance |
*312*500*5# | Shows or unlinks the device |
*461*1#, *461*6#, *461*7# | Router, fibre and MiFi bundles |
| myMTN NG app | Bundles, balances, data sharing, linked numbers |
| MTN self-service portal | Shows airtime and data balance on its homepage |
To see what is left on a MiFi without the codes, MTN points to its self-service portal, the 192.168.0.1 page or the app. Unused data rolls over if you resubscribe within seven days of expiry, MTN’s MiFi help adds. The myMTN NG app on the App Store, also on Android, is published by MTN Nigeria. Its listing and MTN’s app page mention no Wi-Fi settings, so the WLAN Key still lives on the router’s own page.
MTN router password reset
A reset is the fix when nobody remembers the changed admin password. MTN’s guide says to push the reset button with a pin for 10 seconds, or until the router restarts. Then sign in with the default password written on the router, or with admin.
A factory reset normally clears changes such as a new Wi-Fi key, so plan for every device to rejoin. Before you press it, read what a factory reset erases. On FibreX, skip the pin and call 352. To compare MTN’s login with other makers and ISPs, see the default router password list.
MTN router login page not opening
Chrome says "This site can't be reached" or "took too long to respond"
Usually the phone is not on the router's network, or mobile data took over. Join the router or MiFi Wi-Fi, switch data off and try again. An MTN MiFi answers only while you are connected to it.
A search results page opens instead of the router
The address went into the search box, or it was mistyped. Searches such as "192.168 l 0.1" use the letter l where the digit 1 belongs. Type http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar, with dots and digits only.
The password admin is rejected
Someone changed it, or you typed the Wi-Fi key instead. Try the password written on the router. If both fail, do the 10-second pin reset.
FibreX modem light blinking red
MTN calls this LOS, Loss Of Service. It is a line fault, not a login problem: email mtnbroadband.ng@mtn.com or call 352.
New 5G router shows no internet
The bundled SIM may not be registered yet. Register it at an MTN SIM registration point, then restart the router. If it works but never shows 5G, check MTN's 5G coverage locator: outside 5G areas the router runs on 4G.
FlyX is slow or keeps dropping
MTN's FlyX checklist: restart the router, check that every cable is firmly connected and that the power supply is stable. If it persists, call 352 or 08031021700.
Still stuck? Work through why a router admin page will not load, from browser cache to a wrong gateway.
MTN router in South Africa
In South Africa, resellers such as Webafrica also supply MTN routers, and the address there depends on the maker: Huawei units use 192.168.8.1. If you live there, use the MTN South Africa router steps instead.
Conclusion
On MTN Nigeria’s 4G, 5G, MiFi and FlyX devices, the login is 192.168.0.1 with the password admin, and the Wi-Fi key sits under WLAN Key. FibreX is handled by MTN on 352. For other Nigerian and African providers, browse the ISP router login list.
