BSNL Router Login

By Routers Network team Checked

192.168.1.1

Login Admin Portal

Default login: 192.168.1.1 (Huawei EG8141A5: 192.168.100.1); username and password on the ONT label

App: BSNL Selfcare

Works only while your phone or laptop is on this router's Wi-Fi or cable. On a phone, turn mobile data off first. If nothing opens, your router uses another address. The page that opens is your router's own; Routers Network never sees what you type there.

Key points

  • BSNL's own setup guides show the Genexis Platinum 4410, TP-Link Archer XR500v and Genew NGN ONT at 192.168.1.1.
  • The Huawei EG8141A5 on BSNL fibre answers at 192.168.100.1 instead.
  • BSNL publishes no shared router password. Use the login on the label, or the one your installer set.
  • After a reset, BSNL asks customers to set a new admin password again.
  • The BSNL Selfcare app handles FTTH bills and complaints, not Wi-Fi passwords.

The BSNL router login on most fibre boxes opens at 192.168.1.1, and on the Huawei EG8141A5 at 192.168.100.1. BSNL publishes no shared username or password, so use the login printed on the ONT label. If the label pair fails, ask your installer, because BSNL tells installers to change it at setup.

Which BSNL router do you have?

Read the brand on the front or the label. BSNL’s FTTH Facilitation Center wrote IPv6 setup guides for seven ONT models, listed on its archived IPv6 settings index. Other providers are grouped on the ISP router guides by country page.

BSNL router admin page by model

The login page itself tells you which box you reached. In BSNL’s screenshots, the Genexis page address ends in /cgi-bin/content.asp, and the TP-Link browser tab reads Archer XR500v. The Huawei page shows EG8141A5 in its header. The Genew page carries the BSNL Broadband and Genew logos side by side. If the model on screen differs from your label, trust the label.

BSNL Genexis and Genew fibre router login

Both answer at 192.168.1.1 in BSNL’s guides. On the Genew, the menu runs across the top: Status, Network, Security, Application, Management, Diagnose and Help.

BSNL’s screenshots show this TP-Link at 192.168.1.1 with three tabs: Quick Setup, Basic and Advanced. Its Advanced menu lists Network, Wireless, Telephony and NAT Forwarding.

BSNL Huawei router login

BSNL’s guide reaches the Huawei EG8141A5 at 192.168.100.1, so start there rather than at 192.168.1.1. Huawei’s login help page warns that carrier versions can use a different address and points you to the nameplate. The 192.168.100.1 login page and the Huawei router guide cover other Huawei boxes.

BSNL also lists guides for Syrotech, Alphion 1143 Black and Netlink ONTs, but none gives an address that can be read. For these boxes, take the address and login from the label. Many fibre boxes share the address covered on the 192.168.1.1 login page, so try it if the label gives none.

BSNL router login on a phone

  1. Join the BSNL router’s Wi-Fi network, or plug a laptop into a LAN port.
  2. Turn mobile data off so the browser stays on the home network.
  3. Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar, or http://192.168.100.1 on a Huawei EG8141A5.
  4. Enter the username and password from the label, plus the captcha if one appears.
  5. If the router asks you to change the default password, set a new one and write it down.

Steps 4 and 5 follow BSNL’s ONT requirements, which ask makers for a captcha on the login page and a prompt to change the default password. If no page loads on a laptop, these steps to find your router’s IP address show the real gateway on Windows, Mac and phones.

BSNL router default password

A BSNL ONT security circular from February 2020 tells field staff to change the default username and password to a strong one at installation. It also says the ONT admin login stays with the customer.

The label pair works only on a box nobody has changed, so the login to try depends on who set it up:

Your situationLogin to try
New box, never set up by anyoneThe pair on the label
Installed by BSNL or a local partnerThe login the installer set; ask them
Reset button was pressedThe label pair, then set a new password
ONT you bought yourselfIts own label and maker’s manual

BSNL’s network centre also tracks boxes still on default passwords. Pick a long replacement using these tips for a strong router password.

BSNL WiFi password change

The BSNL Selfcare app covers FTTH bills, usage and complaint booking. Its store listing names no Wi-Fi password feature, so make the change on the router page. BSNL asks for the ONT’s internet-side access to be blocked, so expect the login page, and with it the Wi-Fi setting, to open only from your home network.

  1. Complete the BSNL router login above.
  2. Open the Wi-Fi menu. On the TP-Link Archer XR500v it is Advanced > Wireless. On the Genew ONT it is the WLAN0 page under Network. Other models use a WLAN or Wi-Fi page.
  3. Edit the network name and the key, keep WPA2 security, and save.
  4. Reconnect each phone and TV with the new key.

BSNL’s ONT requirements ask for WPA2-AES encryption in place of WEP, so pick WPA2 if the menu offers a choice. For menu names on other brands, see these Wi-Fi password menus by router brand.

BSNL router password reset

A reset puts the label login back, but BSNL’s circular asks customers to set a new admin password straight after every use of the reset button.

If the internet light stays off after a reset, the box may need your broadband user ID and password again. Get them from BSNL or your installer before you press the button. When you type the user ID back in, enter only the part before @ftth.bsnl.in. BSNL’s ONT requirements say the box adds that suffix by itself. The same document asks that a reset keeps the BSNL firmware rather than the maker’s factory version.

Using your own router with BSNL fibre

BSNL’s 2020 circular names three kinds of ONT on its fibre network: supplied by BSNL, supplied by a local TIP (telecom infrastructure partner), or bought by the customer.

  • BSNL or TIP supplied: the installer sets it up, changes the default login and should block risky ports before switching the line on.
  • Your own ONT: the circular says it must meet the ITU-T G.9980 standard, and that this is part of the terms on the connection form. Its login comes from its own label and maker, not from BSNL.
  • Your own Wi-Fi router behind the ONT: it has a separate address and login of its own.

Because BSNL asks makers to turn bridge mode off, the ONT keeps handling the BSNL connection itself. Ask BSNL before you buy a box that depends on bridge mode.

BSNL router settings you cannot change

BSNL’s requirements ask makers to lock some settings, so a BSNL-supplied box may show these:

  • Bridge mode is turned off.
  • The firmware version shows BSNL.
  • Ports are blocked from the internet side by default, and the firewall is set to high.
  • WPS is off by default.

A missing bridge mode option on such a box is expected, not a fault. If the internet light stays off or a setting will not save, book a complaint in the BSNL Selfcare app. Airtel’s fibre boxes in India use a different login, covered on the Airtel Xstream Fiber login page.

BSNL router login page not opening

For causes not listed below, use the checklist for a router page that will not load.

"This site can't be reached" at 192.168.1.1

Check the brand. A Huawei EG8141A5 answers at 192.168.100.1. Otherwise join the BSNL Wi-Fi, switch mobile data off and try again.

Google results appear instead of a login box

The address went into the search box. Tap the address bar at the top and type it with http:// in front.

Nothing opens after typing 192.168.l.l or 192.168.o.1

Those are letters. Every part of the address is a number: 192.168.1.1.

Captcha keeps failing

Type the characters exactly as shown, or reload the page for a fresh captcha.

The router demands a new password at once

That is the forced change BSNL asks makers to build in. Set a new admin password, save it somewhere safe, then sign in again.

Label username and password rejected

The installer changed them, as BSNL instructs. Ask the person who set up the box before you reset it.

No internet after a reset

Enter your broadband user ID (without @ftth.bsnl.in) and password again, or book a complaint in BSNL Selfcare.

Conclusion

Match your box to the table first, because the Huawei address differs from the rest. If the label login fails, ask your installer before you reset, and keep your broadband user ID ready in case you need it afterwards. For a router that is not from BSNL, the router login finder helps you reach it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the BSNL router default username and password?

BSNL publishes none. Pairs such as admin and admin on login lists online come from no BSNL source, so trust the label on your own box instead.

How can I change my BSNL WiFi password online?

Not from the BSNL Selfcare app, whose listing covers bills, usage and complaints only. Join the router's Wi-Fi, open its web page and edit the Wi-Fi key under the WLAN or Wireless menu.

I forgot my BSNL router password. What can I do?

A reset brings back the login on the label. Keep your BSNL broadband user ID and password at hand in case the internet does not return, and set a new admin password straight after the reset, as BSNL asks.

Is the BSNL WiFi password the same as the router login password?

No. The router login opens the settings page and is the one BSNL asks you to change after a reset. The Wi-Fi key sits on the WLAN or Wireless page and only lets devices join.

What IP address does a BSNL fibre router use?

BSNL's own guides show 192.168.1.1 for Genexis, TP-Link and Genew boxes and 192.168.100.1 for the Huawei EG8141A5. For any other model, the label or your phone's gateway address tells you.
