Airtel Nigeria Router Login
192.168.0.1
Default login: Username admin, password admin, at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 (Airtel Nigeria FAQ)
App: My Airtel
Works only while your phone or laptop is on this router's Wi-Fi or cable. On a phone, turn mobile data off first. If nothing opens, your router uses another address. The page that opens is your router's own; Routers Network never sees what you type there.
Key points
- Airtel Nigeria's FAQ gives one login for its 4G Router and MiFi: open 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 and type admin as both username and password.
- Change the Wi-Fi name and key under Settings, then Wireless Settings. Airtel says to leave the security mode on WPA2-PSK.
- A MiFi takes up to 10 users and the 4G Router up to 32. The cap sits under Settings, Wi-Fi Settings, Max Number of Users.
- Airtel publishes no login for the 5G Router or the Smartbox outdoor unit, so read the label on those.
On this page
For an Airtel Nigeria router login, join the router’s Wi-Fi, open 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, and type admin as the username and the password. Those details come from Airtel’s own FAQ and cover the 4G Router and the MiFi. Airtel publishes no login for its 5G Router or Smartbox outdoor unit, so read the label on those.
Which Airtel router do you have?
Airtel’s FAQ sorts its home broadband (HBB) kit into three groups: Pocket Wifi, Router Bundles and the Smartbox Outdoor Unit. Its 5G page adds a fourth, the Airtel 5G Router. None of these pages names a maker or model, so the logins below come from Airtel itself, not from a maker’s manual.
Airtel 4G router login
This is the SIM router sold in Airtel’s Router Bundles. It opens on the 192.168.0.1 admin page, and Airtel gives admin as both the username and the password. Up to 32 users can connect to it at once, Airtel says.
Airtel MiFi and pocket WiFi login
The MiFi is the pocket hotspot you carry around, and Airtel lists Pocket Wifi and monthly plans as its bundles. It uses the same two addresses and the password admin. Its limit is lower: 10 users at a time.
Airtel 5G router
Airtel describes the 5G Router as a compact box that also runs on 3G and 4G LTE networks and takes up to 64 devices. Its 5G page gives no address, username or password, so check the sticker on the router. Airtel says its 4G SIMs, physical or eSIM, switch to 5G by themselves inside a 5G device. The same page ties the 5G Router’s bonus data to finishing KYC, the identity check, and *386# lists the Airtel shops and KYC points near you.
Airtel Smartbox outdoor unit
Airtel’s FAQ lists the Smartbox Outdoor Unit (ODU) but gives no help page for it. Press coverage of the SmartConnect 5G ODU launch in September 2025 said it is mounted outside for a stronger signal and comes with a SIM and free installation. It drops to 4G where 5G is missing, and its battery lasts five to six hours in a power cut. No login was published, so the label is your source.
| Device | How to tell it apart | Address | Login | Users at once |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4G Router | SIM router from Router Bundles | 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 | admin / admin | 32 |
| MiFi (Pocket Wifi) | Small pocket hotspot | 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 | Password admin | 10 |
| 5G Router | Compact box, 5G with 3G and 4G fallback | Not published | Label | 64 |
| Smartbox ODU | Fitted outside the house | Not published | Label | Not given by Airtel |
Airtel in India sells Xstream Fiber, a separate product with its own routers, logins and the Airtel Thanks app, so its steps do not apply in Nigeria. On MTN in Nigeria instead? The MTN Nigeria router login page covers its 4G, 5G and MiFi devices.
Airtel Nigeria router login on a phone
Airtel’s FAQ starts with “Connect your 4G Router/MiFi device to your computer”, but the Airtel Nigeria router login works the same way from a phone on the router’s Wi-Fi.
- Join the router’s or MiFi’s Wi-Fi. The network name and key are usually printed on the device.
- Switch mobile data off, so the phone does not send the request out to the internet.
- In the browser’s address bar, type
http://192.168.0.1. If nothing loads, try the 192.168.1.1 login, the second address Airtel lists. - Tap Login and type
adminin the username and password fields.
If neither address opens, the box may be set to another one. Find the router’s IP address from the phone’s Wi-Fi details, then type that number instead.
Airtel WiFi password change
Airtel’s FAQ gives these steps for a new Wi-Fi name and key, after the Airtel Nigeria router login:
- Tap Settings.
- Open Wireless Settings in the menu on the left.
- Type a new name in the SSID field if you want one. SSID means the Wi-Fi network name your phones see.
- Leave the security mode on WPA2-PSK, as Airtel advises.
- Type the new password and tap Save.
Airtel asks for a password you can remember, but it also needs to be hard to guess: build a strong password that mixes words, numbers and symbols. After you save, every phone and TV drops off and must join again with the new key.
If a laptop still has the old key saved, you can read a saved Wi-Fi password from it first. Routers from other providers use other menus; Wi-Fi password steps for other brands cover them.
Three different logins all get called the password.
| Password | Where you type it | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Router admin login | The page at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 | admin / admin, unless someone changed it |
| Wi-Fi key | Your phone’s Wi-Fi list | The label at first, then whatever you set in Wireless Settings |
| My Airtel account | The My Airtel app | Your phone number plus a one-time code (OTP) |
Limit how many devices can connect
Once the cap is reached, another phone cannot join. To set a lower cap, sign in and go to Settings, then Wi-Fi Settings, edit Max Number of Users and tap Apply. Airtel names this menu Wi-Fi Settings here and Wireless Settings in its password steps, so look for either label on your screen.
Airtel router data balance and My Airtel app
Data, bundles and balance do not live on the router page. They run through codes dialled from your phone, or through the app. Searches for an “HBB” or “broadband” login usually mean this account side: launch coverage of the SmartConnect router names Airtel’s broadband portal at airtel.com.ng/hbb for managing subscriptions. That portal is a sign-in for bundles, not a way into the router’s settings.
| Code or tool | What it does, per Airtel’s FAQ |
|---|---|
*323# | Shows the data balance; pick your device type |
*312# | Buys a data plan; choose “buy for others” and enter the router or MiFi number |
*400*1# | Stops Pay-As-You-Go browsing on airtime when a bundle runs out |
| Text Internet to 232 | Sends automatic data settings for a line |
| My Airtel app | Buys bundles for the router number and shows its data balance |
My Airtel on Google Play is published by Airtel Africa. One reviewer there complains the app wants to read the OTP by itself while the SIM sits in the router. Airtel’s FAQ describes another route: register with your own phone number, then add the HBB device number as a second account, and the code goes to your alternate number. Unused data is not lost at once. Airtel allows 7 days for monthly plans, 3 for weekly and 1 for daily, and you keep it only by renewing the same bundle in that window.
Airtel Nigeria customer care for router issues
Airtel Nigeria’s contact page lists 300 from an Airtel line, with 800 marked for enterprise customers. From another network or abroad, it gives +234 8021500300 and +234 8021520800, and the email customercare@ng.airtel.com. Some blogs quote 111; Airtel’s own page does not.
- Returns. Airtel’s FAQ says there is no return policy for the router, so a box bought by mistake stays yours.
- Old SIM. A line on an old 3G SIM needs a 4G LTE SIM from an Airtel shop. Airtel says you keep your number after the swap.
- Locked settings. If the label login and a reset both fail, ask Airtel. Do not try to break into settings the network controls.
Airtel router password reset
First check which password failed. If the phone rejects the Wi-Fi key, that is a different password from the admin login. Try the details on the label, then the admin pair from Airtel’s FAQ.
When nobody knows the changed admin password, a factory reset is the way back. Airtel Nigeria publishes no reset steps or hold time for its devices. If the box has a reset hole, the general method applies: hold it with a pin until the device restarts. A reset normally wipes your Wi-Fi name and key, so every phone must rejoin. Read what a factory reset erases before you press, and compare other makers’ logins in the default router password list.
Airtel router admin page not opening
Chrome says "This site can't be reached" or "took too long to respond"
Usually the phone is not on the router's Wi-Fi, or mobile data took over. Join the router or MiFi, switch data off, then try 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 in turn.
A Google results page opens instead of the router
The address went into the search box or was typed with letters, such as a letter l or o where a digit belongs. Type http:// plus digits and dots in the address bar.
admin is rejected
The password was changed, or the Wi-Fi key was typed instead. Try the label, then reset the device.
A new phone cannot join the Wi-Fi
The device may be full. A MiFi takes 10 users and the 4G Router 32. Disconnect an old device, or check Max Number of Users under Wi-Fi Settings.
My Airtel will not accept the OTP for the router number
Sign in with your own phone number, then add the HBB device number as an account. Airtel sends that code to your alternate number.
Data ran out and airtime keeps dropping
That is Pay-As-You-Go browsing. Dial *400*1# to opt out, then buy a bundle with *312#.
An old MiFi or dongle never shows 4G
Airtel tells owners of a MiFi or dongle that is not 4G enabled to upgrade it at an Airtel Store or the nearest phone store. The SIM inside must be a 4G LTE SIM too.
The 5G Router never shows 5G
It runs on 4G LTE or 3G where there is no 5G signal. Check Airtel's 5G coverage map for your area.
Still stuck after these? Go through why a router settings page will not load, from browser cache to a wrong gateway.
Conclusion
If the login fails, try the second address and check that you typed the admin password, not the Wi-Fi key. Once you are in, the Wi-Fi key lives under Settings, Wireless Settings. For other Nigerian and African providers, see the ISP router login list.

Frequently asked questions
What is the username and password for an Airtel router in Nigeria?
For the 4G Router and MiFi, Airtel's FAQ says admin is both the username and the password. If someone changed it, admin will fail and only the new password or a reset gets you back in.
Can I change my Airtel WiFi password online?
Airtel Nigeria publishes no website or app method for the Wi-Fi key. You change it on the device's own page at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 while you are joined to its Wi-Fi.
What is the Airtel Nigeria APN?
Airtel's FAQ gives Internet.ng.airtel.com for a data line, with the username and password left blank. You can also text Internet to 232 to get the settings sent to you.
Can I return an Airtel router I no longer need?
No. Airtel's FAQ says there is no return policy for the router, even if you cannot afford a data bundle for it, so a box bought by mistake stays yours.
Does the My Airtel app change my router WiFi password?
Its store listing covers recharge, bills and money transfer, and Airtel's FAQ uses it for bundles and data balance. Neither mentions Wi-Fi settings, so the key still changes on the router page.
